About the Founder

Anna Agbotse

Anna Agbotse is more than a strategist, she is a bridge between purpose and process. Raised in the vibrant port city of Tema, Greater Accra Region in Ghana, her journey began not with a title, but with a question:

“How do we show up for those who feel unseen?”

Long before her move to the United States at age 15, Anna was already paying attention. She noticed how some children in her community lived differently than others, and she couldn’t ignore the question of why. From a young age, she was aware of the quiet realities around her-the gaps, the needs, the patterns. It sparked something internal: a need to understand, a desire to serve, and a deep belief that the heart could be a compass. She didn’t just want to lead she wanted to lead with care, and to learn with humility.

That awareness traveled with her when she joined her mother in New Jersey. Navigating a new country sharpened her perspective. While in high school, Anna launched a digital campaign to raise awareness about hunger in Ghana, transforming concern into action. She was already learning how to lead across borders and bring stories to light that deserved a platform.

At Rutgers University, where she earned a B.A. in Public Administration and Nonprofit Affairs with a minor in International Affairs and later a Master of Public Administration (MPA), Anna’s questions turned into systems. She founded We Are the Voice International, a platform for African and diasporic youth to engage in civic dialogue and community building. Under this initiative, she organized symposiums, cultivated cross-continental conversations, and produced the documentary Ghana Youth and Politics, which spotlighted rising youth voices and their engagement with governance.

Anna didn’t seek attention, but, her work drew it. At Rutgers, she became the first undergraduate student in the university’s history to receive the Presidential Public Service Award, a faculty-level honor recognizing her civic contributions. She was also awarded the Outstanding BA Student Award and named Rutgers Scholar-Athlete of the Year, affirming that leadership can look like a student who shows up boldly in the classroom, on the field, and in service.

Beyond campus, her work earned national recognition. She was honored with a United States Congressional Recognition Award, a Senatorial Recognition Award, and the Spirit of Detroit Award for her youth-centered impact. She also received a State of Michigan Special Tribute, a City of Dearborn Citation, and a Certificate of Appreciation from Wayne County, reminders that meaningful service resonates widely when rooted in care.

She was invited to participate in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women Conference, expanding her global leadership and engagement in equity, gender, and diaspora development.

Anna’s ongoing work with the National Council of Ghanaian Associations (NCOGA) reflects her deep commitment to community. She helped develop the foundational framework for NCOGA’s Young Adult and Youth (YAY) Branch, co-leading efforts to mobilize Ghanaian youth in the diaspora through leadership development, cultural identity, and public service. That work continues to inspire and support young people who are ready to shape the future of Ghanaian diasporic influence with boldness and pride.

Professionally, she has worked across sectors in academic research, nonprofit leadership, public policy, and Diversity & Inclusion-particularly in healthcare strategy. Her approach is always people-first, story-driven, and results-grounded.

Today, Anna leads as the Founder and Principal Strategist of Anna Agbotse LLC and its consulting arm, Ayá Strategies. These two arms work in harmony: one amplifies voice and visibility, the other delivers tools and frameworks to turn equity into action. Together, they serve a simple but transformative mission to build with people, not just for them.

Whether through a speaking engagement, a workshop, or a policy project, Anna brings a unique ability to center humanity in everything she builds. Her clients and collaborators consistently speak to her clarity, compassion, and commitment to excellence. To experience Anna’s leadership is to be seen, to be heard, and to be moved into motion. Her legacy is not about being the loudest voice in the room; it’s about making sure every voice has room to lead.

Her work continues to grow, but the heart remains the same: voice, purpose, and impact
